Gregory
Pierce
has worked in sotware development and execuive management, across
a variety of high-technology industries, for over 18 years. Gregory started his professional
computer sotware career as a sotware test engineer for the Microsot Corporaion in 2002.
Since then he has gained experience across a variety of industries; while working in the
defense and space industry for Sytex, Director of Research and Development for Bethesda
Sotworks and Zenimax Media, Sotware Architect for the Strategic Applicaions group
within CNN, and later Time Warner, Technology Evangelist at JBoss/Red Hat, Vice President
of Technology for Blockbuster, and inally Director of Global Sotware Development for the
Interconinental Hotels Group. A published technical author, Gregory has used his experience
to give back to communiies by lecturing on a variety of technology subjects, contribuing
to open source projects, and paricipaing in organizaions such as Junior Achievement.
Gregory holds an MBA in Global Business from the Georgia Insitute of Technology and a BS
in Computer Science from Xavier University of Louisiana.
In this book, many of the chapters and artwork contained herein are commissioned by
Sojourner Mobile, provider of the moneizaion plaform that has made it all possible.
He co-authored Direct3D Professional Reference during the early days of DirectX.
I'd like to thank my wife Deirdre, son Gabriel, and daughter Sydney who
sacriiced many nights and weekends to give me the ime necessary to
work on the book. I'd also like to thank my co-workers at IHG and all of my
friends from Georgia Insitute of Technology (Go Jackets) who provided
feedback and encouragement when imes were rough. Finally, I want to
